MOVE
Exercise is a celebration of what the body can do, not a punishment for what you ate.
One of the most powerful ways
I shifted my mindset about exercise
was when I changed my WHY.
Through a good dose of debilitating chronic pain, the inability to be active or exercise, and lots and lots of tears, I am now so grateful for this new-found perspective. Exercise is not a punishment, a dreaded task, a way to burn calories, or another thing on my to-do list.
Rather, it’s a celebration of what my body can do. It’s a privilege!
I’ve also realized that exercise isn’t always healthy. Our society and the fitness industry often encourage us to disconnect from and tune out our bodies. We’re told to push through despite depletion, to use exercise to escape from stress, or to work out as a way to burn extra calories – none of which is healthy or beneficial.
